- Obtained 4 486 computers from surplus. Having great difficulty installing Linux on them.
As of 1-Jul-1998, one is DOA, one has Horton material, other two almost work. Need memory for them badly.
- 3-Jul-1998
- Completed installation of Linux on 3 of the 486s, needed on to make the others work. Rearranged network from terminal room to feed them 10BaseT, put 2 machines in terminal room back on 10Base2/AUI.
- 3-Jul-1998
- Talked with Shane at Adosea about computers and network devices.
They will not deliver a partial shipment,
very disappointing as this will unnecessarily delay us.
They said they had until July 7th to deliver the order.
They are still thinking about the additional ventilation needed for the servers
and will contact us when they put them together.
- 31-July-1998
- Resolved _never_ to do business with Adosea again.
