Dr. Hiebert's research interests lie in experimental nuclear physics with an emphasis on measurements of the interaction of neutrons with light nuclei, including a study of the spin dependent part of the nuclear force with polarized neutrons from 15 to 800 MeV.
A 1956 graduate of Harvard University, Professor Hiebert received his master's and Ph.D. degrees from Yale. Following an appointment as an Atomic Energy Commission Special Postdoctoral Fellow, he joined the faculty at Texas A&M in 1965.
He received a Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching in 1975. He was a guest scientist at the Kernforschungszentrum, Karlsruhe, West Germany, 1981-82.
